Childrens - Programs

We collected 123 pairs of pajamas for our annual PJ drive for homeless and low income children and teens as part of the Boston Bruins Cradles to Crayons program. THANK YOU!!

WHEN : Saturdays April 6, May 4, June 1
TIME : 1-3:30PM

The club is open to age 8 and up.  All skill levels are welcome and instructor Roy Wolfe will be on hand to help the beginners. The group will be loosely formed and choosing an opponent will be casual. Bring your chess set if you have one and Roy will have a few extras on hand.  He will also present the beginners with basic tips.  The membership will be limited to 20 and you must sign up at the front desk.

THEME : FAIRYTALE LAND (different playsets and props)

TIME : 10:30-11:45

AGES : 3-5

Pop-Up Pretend is a fun playtime activity that allows children to use their creativity and imagination. Each session has a literary theme with colorful interactive playsets, props and music.  Miss Kim and her helpers encourage participants to dance, pretend, and play. Great for kids who want to move their bodies and express themselves creatively in a safe supportive setting.

Kim Backlund is a mom of two and an artist with a passion for promoting creativity in young people. Having spent over 15 years as a professional graphic artist, Kim now spends her days designing and building custom furniture and volunteering with the Wrentham Elementary drama program designing sets.
"I get so much joy out of sharing my creations and watching how these little artists and performers take it to the next level with their own talents and imaginations."

Does your child like reading and dogs?  Sign up today to read to Lily, a trained therapy dog, at Fiske Library. 
Lily is a Bassett hound mix who came to live with the Winmill family 5 years ago from a rescue in Tennessee.

She went to school like you, and became a “Therapy dog" and a" Reading Buddy" She is a happy gentle pup with velvet ears and polka dot spots. She loves the Library and loves to hear stories about animals (especially bunnies!) She has many jobs including visiting the elderly and cheering up college students  during exam periods but her favorite time is spending time with children who read her stories. She can’t wait to meet you!

Beth Winmill has been a resident in Wrentham for 53 years and her children actually used the original library and went to elementary school here . She recently retired as a Professor of Nursing at CCRI and is enjoying her leisure time…especially with Lily in various venues.

PRESCHOOL Storytime (ages 3 ½ - K) Fridays 10:30- 11:15am,
Join Miss Liz for stories, songs, poems and parachute play.  Children may come in on their own so if you have a baby/toddler in the Friday playgroups your preschooler may attend storytime.

Toddler Play N Learn with Gina McGarrigle

This monthly program is being offered by Self Help Inc., Coordinated Family and Community Engagement. Hands on activities, exploration and imaginative play!!

Silly Science and Mystical Math
WHEN : Wednesday May 15
(In addition there will be an online activity in December for the Kids to participate)

TIME : 3:30-4:30
AGES : Kindergarten - Fourth Grade
Silly Science and Mystical Math is a parent/child program designed to introduce STEM subjects in a fun and engaging atmosphere by using hands on exploration. Each session will be a different STEM topic. Limited to 20 children ages Kindergarten-4th Grade however younger kids will need parental assistance. Imagination Playground

Come build with the Giant Blue Blocks in the Imagination Playground located in the Children's Program Room during regular library hours. Stop at the Circulation Desk to sign into the room. This Indoor Playground is supported with funds from the FRIENDS OF THE FISKE.


Thursday is Lego Block Party Day at Fiske Library. Come join in on the fun anytime between the hours of 10:30AM-8:00PM. Stop at the circulation desk to sign into the Children's Program Room. All children must be accompanied and supervised by a parent or caregiver. Thank you to the FRIENDS OF THE FISKE for purchasing great new bins and a tarp to hold our Legos which were donated by a generous patron!


Birth to pre-walkers with Mom, Dad or caregiver meets on Fridays at 9:30. Toddlers (walkers) to age 2 1/2 with Mom, Dad or caregiver meets on Fridays at 10:30. Meet new friends, play with the toys and gym equipment purchased with funds from FRIENDS OF THE FISKE!! No registration required, just drop in. If arriving before 10AM please ring doorbell. Come and join the fun!!
