Childrens - Programs

Please consider picking up a pair of new pajamas for our annual PJ drive. Once again we will be collecting PJ's for homeless and low income children and teens as part of the Boston Bruins Cradles to Crayones program until March 15, 2019.

CHESS CLUB
WHEN : Saturdays March 2 and April 6
TIME : 1-3:30PM


The club is open to age 8 and up. All skill levels are welcome and instructor Roy Wolfe will be on hand to help the beginners. The group will be loosely formed and choosing an opponent will be casual. Bring your chess set if you have one, Roy will have a few extras on hand. He will also present the beginners with basic tips. Limited to 20, you must sign up at the front desk.

POP-UP PRETEND WITH KIM BACKLUND
ANIMALS AND THE CIRCUS
WHEN : WED. APRIL 17
TIME : 10:30-11:45
AGES : 3-5

Pop-Up Pretend is a fun playtime activity that allows children to use their creativity and imagination. Each session has a literary theme with colorful interactive playsets, props and music. Miss Kim and her helpers encourage participants to dance, pretend, and play. Great for kids who want to move their bodies and express themselves creatively in a safe supportive setting. Come play with us!
Kim Backlund is a mom of two and an artist with a passion for promoting creativity in young people. Having spent over 15 years as a professional graphic artist, Kim now spends her days designing and building custom furniture and volunteering with the Wrentham Elementary drama program designing sets.
"I get so much joy out of sharing my creations and watching how these little artists and performers take it to the next level with their own talents and imaginations."

SHOWCASE DANCE PRODUCTIONS

Celebrate St. Patrick's Day with Music, Dance, Crafts and some Irish Soda Bread! Join us for an Irish Step Dance performance for all ages. Drop-In, no registration required. We can GUARANTEE you will be delighted! Happy St. Patrick's Day!!

ELIJAH T. GRASSHOPPER & FRIENDS MUSIC PROGRAM
WHEN : FRIDAY MARCH 22
TIME : 11:00AM (NO SCHOOL - WRENTHAM PROFESSIONAL DAY)
AGES  : 0-8

Introducing Elijah T. Grasshopper & Friencds, children's enrichment performers created to add a sense of real-time wonderment to children's lives through interactive musical storytelling. With the sole purpose to spark young imaginations and keep enchantment alive, interactive songs are Elijah's speciality. From the wake-up song, "Tick Tock Alarm Clock" to a hide n' seek adventure with "Willa the Worm", children love to participate.  A master at making kids hop, wiggle and giggle, Elijah is joined by Emma the "Go Go Green" Bean, the Orange Farmer and their puppet pals, Willa the Worm and Weatherbee Frog.
Elijah and his friends teach kids funky dance moves like the Bumpity Bump and the Pumpkin Dance, all the while promoting a message of social harmony.
This program is funded in part by a grant from the Wrentham Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.

STORYTIMES
TODDLER TIME (ages 2 ½ to 3 ½) in Mom, Dad or a Caregiver's lap, Wednesdays at  10:30am.
PRESCHOOL Storytime (ages 3 ½ - K) Fridays 10:30- 11:15am,
Join Miss Liz for stories, songs, poems and parachute play.  Children may come in on their own so if you have a baby/toddler in the Friday playgroups your preschooler may attend storytime.
Programs are free but canned-good donations will be gratefully accepted for the Wrentham Food Pantry. Call 384-5440 to register or if full leave name to be called for the following session.

Toddler Play N Learn with Gina McGarrigle
WHEN : Tuesdays Feb. 12; March 12; April 9: May 14
TIME : 10:30-11:15
AGES : 12 to 30 months with parent/caregiver
This monthly program is being offered by Self Help Inc., Coordinated Family and Community Engagement. Hands on activities, exploration and imaginative play!!
Program is free buy canned-good donations will be gratefully accepted for the Wrentham Food Pantry.

Silly Science and Mystical Math
WHEN : Wednesdays March 20; May 15
(In addition there will be an online activity in December for the Kids to participate)

TIME : 3:30-4:30
AGES : Kindergarten - Fourth Grade
Silly Science and Mystical Math is a parent/child program designed to introduce STEM subjects in a fun and engaging atmosphere by using hands on exploration. Each session will be a different STEM topic. Limited to 20 children ages Kindergarten-4th Grade however younger kids will need parental assistance. Imagination Playground

Come build with the Giant Blue Blocks in the Imagination Playground located in the Children's Program Room during regular library hours. Stop at the Circulation Desk to sign into the room. This Indoor Playground is supported with funds from the FRIENDS OF THE FISKE.

LEGO BLOCK PARTY THURSDAY

Thursday is Lego Block Party Day at Fiske Library. Come join in on the fun anytime between the hours of 10:30AM-8:00PM. Stop at the circulation desk to sign into the Children's Program Room. All children must be accompanied and supervised by a parent or caregiver. Thank you to the FRIENDS OF THE FISKE for purchasing great new bins and a tarp to hold our Legos which were donated by a generous patron!

BABY/TODDLER PLAYGROUPS

Birth to pre-walkers with Mom, Dad or caregiver meets on Fridays at 9:30. Toddlers (walkers) to age 2 1/2 with Mom, Dad or caregiver meets on Fridays at 10:30. Meet new friends, play with the toys and gym equipment purchased with funds from FRIENDS OF THE FISKE!! No registration required, just drop in. If arriving before 10AM please ring doorbell. Come and join the fun!!
